help
the disabled and
elderly
persons live in their own neighborhoods where they choose.
The only reason some disabled persons are forced into a nursing
home is that they can't be thrown out into the streets as "able bodied" persons are. Instead,
our society allows disabled persons to be warehoused in nursing homes
where they live useless lives. Nursing homes have a great
responsibility in the U.S. They must care for those of us who need 24/7
nursing care and for those who are too sick to live on their own in a
community. Over
the years, nursing homes have become big business (as did our entire
health care system in the U.S.). Our nation, the most powerful in the
world, has put a price on its human beings. Below is several cases of
lives wasted away.
When Mayor Daley announced his 10 year plan to end homelessness, he
said, "Every human being has a name and a face". Every human being was
put on this earth for a reason. No one will ever have the same reason
for living. How do we care for our own? THE CHICAGO OLMSTEAD PROJECT
WILL SEE THAT
PERSONS WITH WITH DISABILITIES AND ELDERLY PERSONS WILL BE ABLE TO LIVE
WHERE THEY CHOOSE, AND WILL NEVER BE HOMELESS OR STUCK IN A NURSING
HOME WAITING TO DIE. By Supporting
all activities of the 5th
Annual and beyond Disability Pride Parades, we help persons with
disabilities, the Vets, and the elderly feel good about themselves. By
providing housing for them, we give them the will to live
a productive life. Below is one true stories of what happens to human
life when people don't care: There are more! When will it end?
THE STORE OF BRUCE:
• Bruce developed MS at the age of 30.
• His wife told him that she could not face being married to a
“disabled man”. Therefore, she lift him, never to return.
• His mother and father tried to take care of him at home, but they
did not like having his Personal Care Assistant around the house. They
wanted to travel in their golden years, and were mad that they had to
take care of their son.
• Upon hearing their cries, Bruce took many pills to end his life.
• Bruce was taken to a hospital where his life was saved.
• Bruce didn't want his parents to give-up their life plans just to
take care of him.
• Bruce signed himself in a nursing home close to where his parents
lived, and gave all his money to them.
• Bruce wasted away for 10 years in this nursing home to the point
of not being able to move his body or cry for help.
• On a cold Sunday he was found in bed by a disabled person who was
visiting. With a tube coming from his mouth, Bruce was throwing-up all
over himself and could not call for help.
• The visitor looked all over the building for a nurse (Bruce's room
was 10 feet from the nurses station).
• Bruce was taken to the hospital for 2 weeks until his medicare was
used up.
• Bruce's mother wanted him back in a nursing home, and told the
disabled visitor to; “Stay out of her business”.
• Bruce died 2 weeks later in the same nursing home.
• Bruce died along. His life was ended without dignity.
